What to Pack for a Day on the Water

Come summer time, you just cannot miss the thrill of going out on a boat ride. Once the chilling winter is over and as the mercury rises, you find clear water bodies thawing from their frozen state and gearing up to give you an exciting and unforgettable experience.

Water bodies are abundant in Canada and this gift of nature has been utilised to the fullest by the Canadian Government. When you go on a boating trip, you need to carry a few essentials in order to enhance your joy on the boat ride.

Safety Gadgets

Even if you are a good swimmer, you must never go on a boat ride without proper safety precautions. Carry life jackets and do a mock trial on land before you go out sailing. This is very essential because you seldom have time to experiment with these safety gadgets during crisis. Do carry compass, maps and other navigation tools. Also inform friends and family about your plans.

Drinking Water

Clean water is a must-have when you go for an outing in the waters. You may have water around you, but it is not really potable. Since you will be away from the land, carry excess drinking water with you.

Sunglasses

The bright sun is sharper and brighter in water because water reflects the rays. This often causes pain to the eyes. Sunglasses offer a big relief from the pain. So, a good pair of glasses can make your trip pleasant and enjoyable. Besides, they add a touch of style to your persona.

Camera

When in the waters, you are sure to witness breathtaking sceneries that you would surely like to capture and take back with you. Besides, Canada is known for its picture-perfect locales. With a good still camera or video camera, you can capture and film these awesome sceneries and share them with your friends back home.

First Aid Box

When out of home, you must make it a point to carry a first aid box because you never know when an emergency descends on you. It becomes all the more important when you are on water since you cannot dock just anywhere to buy medicines.

Carry medicines for motion-sickness. Make sure you have a sun protection cream as well as a sun burn lotion. Include medicines for headache as well.

A day in waters is as exciting as it sounds. You experience nature at its best in the calm waters and have time to enjoy the serenity.  While you plan your day out, see if you can get in touch with people sailing out to the same destination on the same day as you are.
