When it comes to pyjamas, you either love them or you hate them. If you, like me, don’t find pyjamas particularly stylish or sexy, then a nightdress is a great alternative! Whether it’s a chemise style slip or a cute and flirty babydoll, nightdresses fit and flattery every body shape and size.
Here’s my guide to buying the perfect nightdress, whether it’s for yourself or as a gift for a loved one…

1. Style is Everything
First and foremost, think about the design you’re going to buy! There are loads of different styles of nightdresses and some suit certain body shapes better than others.
Curvy: Got killer curves? Show them off in a sexy V-necked nightdress that reaches just past the hips. Look for an empire style one that is well fitted around the bust and flares out directly below. The length and floaty style will hide any problem areas including a less-than-washboard stomach, whilst the V-neck will enhance a great bust and show it off to perfect. Result? Super sexy!
Slim: A sexy, tight-fitting chemise or satin slim looks gorgeous on your slim figure, or you could add some curves with a V-necked babydoll that has 3D ruffled detail around the neckline. A short babydoll teamed with tie-sided knickers (preferably with a ruffled bum!) will create the illusion of wider hips.
Maternity: Got a growing baby bump? Or want to treat your pregnant partner to a luxury gift? A babydoll is the perfect nightwear choice! Find an empire style one with plenty of loose, floaty material to cover that bump comfortably – you won’t feel restricted like you can do in pyjamas, and you’ll look gorgeous and feminine whether you’re 3 months or 8 months pregnant!

2. Think About Colour
The same nightdress in two different colours can have a completely different effect. Colour is just as important as style, so pick one that suits your personality (or hers, if it’s a gift)…
Sexy: Want a sexy, seductive look? Classic black is the perfect choice, and it also has the added benefit of being a wonderfully slimming colour for those looking to disguise any lumps and bumps! The opposite is also true – light colours can add width, so enhance a small bust by choosing a black nightdress with white cups. If black isn’t your thing, you can’t help but emit a sexy confidence in lipstick red!
Girly: The girly girl will love a sweet and flirty nightdress in pastel colours such as pink, lemon, orange or baby blue. Look for cute details too such as bows, or a simple but gorgeous polkadot print.
3. Choose the Fabric
Last but not least, fabric is just as important as colour when it comes to creating a particular effect. If you’re looking for a comfortable, everyday night dress then cotton or linen are the ideal choice, whereas silk or satin create that luxurious look for special occasions. Lace trims add a touch of glamour too, and sheer chiffon creates a wonderfully sexy, flirtatious look.
