If you are the person in charge of organizing a family reunion, you know how stressful it can be. You want to make sure that everyone attending will have a good time. It has to be great for kids and adults (and the elderly)! Sometimes, having scheduled activities at your family reunion is an easy way for people to get to know each other. Even if they didn’t know the other person existed before. (Anyone else out there have a long-lost uncle?!) A special venue that meets all of these criteria for your family reunion can be hard to find. Most of all, you probably want to save as much money as possible! If you live in Georgia, here a few ideas on where to hold your next family reunion:
1. The Dillard House
The Dillard house is located in the little Tennessee River valley in north Georgia. They have 63 standard rooms and 25 Chalets (individual cabins) that can hold up to 18 people. Some of the extra amenities they have include fireplace suites, Jacuzzi suites, smoking rooms, bon fires, carriage rides, entertainment, private horseback excursions. They are also located neat good spots for hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, golfing and shopping. Group dining packages are available.
2. Stone Mountain Park
Stone Mountain Park is conveniently located just outside the Metro Atlanta area. This is extra accessible for those family members that would be flying in from out of town. Although they do not have lodging, Stone Mountain Park is crammed full with activities for every age group. They have kids ‘attractions, mini golf, train ride, live entertainment and an amazing evening laser show complete with fireworks! Included in a family reunion package is private use of a covered pavilion with an all-you-can-eat buffet. Prices start at $41 a person.
3. Sea Island
If you are looking for something in a different part of Georgia, Sea Island may be a good spot! It is located in the south east corner of Georgia, right on the Atlantic Ocean! This venue may cost a little more, but it just might be worth it! Price includes audio visual equipment use, an oyster roast overlooking the ocean, a sunset cruise, and a free family portrait. Sea Island also has a spa, golf course, private turtle expeditions, fishing trips, kayaking, target shooting (or lessons!), and Tennis. Don’t forget activities for the kids like horseback riding, day camps, kids cooking classes and a kid’s dinner. There is no more picturesque way to spend your family reunion than seaside at the beach!
