Finding balance on your girl’s trip can be very important, which is why we have created this guide to help you with your travels. Continue reading as we explore the ways that you can balance yoga with your wanderlust.

How To Do Yoga on a Girl’s Trip

Consistency is Key

It can be very easy to slip into unhealthy habits when you’re on your travels, as you want to enjoy yourself as much as possible. However, making sure you stick to a consistent yoga plan can improve your mood and enhance your girl’s trip experience. It’s recommended that you choose specific days of the week and time of the day to practise yoga. For example, if you want to practise yoga outdoors, you should wait for the optimum chance of sun.

Having a good yoga schedule will keep you motivated during your travels and can create a positive environment between you and your friends. Alternatively, you can use yoga time as an opportunity to unwind on your own and have some alone time. This can help you feel more refreshed and excited to do group activities.

Consider Booking A Retreat

If you and all your friends really love yoga and it helps you to fully unwind and relax, then you could consider booking a retreat! Perhaps you go for a full week, or maybe you go for a couple of days in the middle of your trip, but you could get a lot out of committing to your practice for a few days. Many retreats will help you to meet like minded people, but you also get the chance to eat food that is great for your mind and body, work on your energy, learn from people and enjoy your practice. This is an option if you really love to practise and want to make it an important part of your girls trip.

Set Goals

Keeping motivated when you’re on a girl’s trip can be tricky. This is why setting goals and objectives for your yoga sessions will help you maintain your health. Reaching these goals can significantly boost your mood, which can allow you to enjoy your girl’s trip to the maximum and this can rub off on the rest of your friends.

This doesn’t mean that you have to dedicate too much of your time to yoga, as you can set simple goals that won’t take too long to achieve. This will free you up to enjoy many other activities with your girls.

Pack Your Outfits!

When you’re deciding what to pack, make sure you pack some yoga specific outfits, as otherwise you might be put off from the idea. We know you probably won’t have the room to pack your yoga mat, however you could always just use your towel on a soft surface, the beach is perfect! The place you’re staying might even have some you can borrow if they do yoga classes, so ask at reception and see if they can help. However, with your clothes packed, you’ll be much more likely to fit yoga in.

Group Yoga

Getting all of the girls to join in with the yoga sessions will be very beneficial, as it can be used as a fun group activity that you all enjoy together. If you’re all enjoying a beach vacation, you can all use this as an opportunity to indulge in a yoga session together to achieve a peaceful mind and reach a relaxed state that will be perfect for lounging in the sun.

Group yoga also offers a new opportunity to try out new positions with your friends that you might not be confident attempting on your own. This can create an excellent bonding opportunity that will enhance your girl’s trip. There are also incredible yoga classes all over the world, from beach front yoga through to rooftop yoga in city centres and even things like paddleboard yoga, so have a little look and do some research about the place you’re visiting to see whether this is something that is available, whether its run by individuals or fitness business coaching companies.

Avoid Unhealthy Habits

While it’s a good thing and an expectation to enjoy a nice drink out with your girls on your travels, it’s important to not overindulge in drinks and eat healthy if you want to create a healthy balance between yoga and wanderlust. Indulging in too many unhealthy habits can result in your yoga experience being less effective and you will not be able to perform optimally.

The biggest unhealthy habit to avoid is smoking cigarettes, as these can have terrible effects on your mental and physical health. Luckily, some alternatives are nowhere near as dangerous as cigarettes, such as Velo. These allow people to get their nicotine kick without having to inhale smoke or other toxins.

Don’t Be Hard On Yourself

Girl’s trips are all about spending time with people you love, exploring new places, eating great food, drinking delicious drinks and just unwinding. So, if you feel like you want to do yoga when you’re away that’s great, but if you’re also quite happy just embracing your time away, that’s okay too! A week off practice isn’t going to disrupt your progress, so just listen to your body and if you want to enjoy your time away without doing any yoga, that’s absolutely fine. Yoga is all about being kind to yourself and your body, so if that means resting when you’re on your girls trip, then make sure you do that.
