I have previously espoused the virtues and benefits of second hand tyres. In this article its cars. Bargain cars. Everyone loves a bargain on here.
There are very likely hundreds of second hand cars in your area that are under £2000. You will find them on Gumtree, in your local papers, and with for sale posters on them on the streets. Some of these are cheap for a reason, though this is not to say that you can’t find a great used car at a fantastic bargain price.
When looking for a quality used car, think outside the box. Do not be shy about approaching people with “for sale” signs on their cars and ask what their best price is. If they aren’t willing to go as low as your budget allows, be prepared to walk away.
Check as many different sources as you can and check often. The internet especially has blown the market wide open and you are sure to find great deals at any price. Take your time to look through the ads, there is no doubt you will find some great deals. Once you find a good deal, act fast. Contact the seller immediately and set up a date when you can physically take a look at the car.
When dealing with a private seller, it is best to be cautious, and take someone along with you, just in case. Always remember that when a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Knowing what to look for is the first step in your search for a used car. Every model is different and every second hand car has its share of issues. A limited bank account doesn’t necessarily mean you have to settle for junk though; it just means you have to compromise on a few luxuries.
Honda Accord
Honda has a reputation for super engineering and reliability. Their cars also hold their value pretty well. This however, is a set back as it’s difficult to find a cheaply priced newer model. The older Accords possess the same high quality engineering and features as the newer models and they still rank well in terms of safety and reliability.
Ford Ranger
The Ford ranger is a tough and capable truck that is perfect for the buyer who is focused on quality. These used pickups are just as great as today’s modern trucks.
Subaru Impreza
The Subaru is large and designed innovatively, which has helped it become an ideal choice for the car buyer who needs affordability and practicality.
Mazda
The Mazda Miata has an exterior that is reminiscent of the roadsters of the 50’s. It is sporty and fun to drive and is usually priced well under the 2000 pound mark. This is a great choice for those looking to turn heads without breaking their bank accounts.
Acura Integra
It’s been more than a decade since these cars were manufactured but this sporty hatchback is surprisingly fun to drive and comes with a powerful 142-horsepower, 1.8 litre four cylinder engine.
Toyota Corolla
This car is simple and reliable. Its inside is not too fancy but if you are looking for something that’s reasonably priced and won’t cost an arm and a leg as far as petrol goes, then the corolla is the perfect car for you. The 4-speed automatic model is a better bet than the 3-speed version.
While getting a luxurious car is everyone’s dream, it’s not always possible at this stage of life. A suitable budget friendly vehicle priced under £2000 can be found if you look in the right places.
