Life can get very busy sometimes and when this happens, often our health and looking after ourselves are pushed to the back of our priority list. However, we are here with a few simple tips to show you how you can continue to lead a healthy lifestyle even in the busiest of times! From meal prep to staying hydrated and sneaky ways to fit in extra exercise, we’ve got you covered.
Get Creative With Exercise
The first thing you can do to continue to live a healthy lifestyle whilst short on time is to get creative with exercise. Fitting in an hour of exercise a day before or after work might not be reasonable. So, try to fit in a gym session, sports club or run where you can and we will help you with the rest.
When you are on your way to work, get off your public transport a couple of stops early and you can walk the rest of the way. If you drive, park a bit further away to walk! Take the stairs when you get to work, go for a quick 10 minute walk on your lunch break and then try to make the most of any time in the evening with a nice stroll. Walking is an underrated form of exercise, so if you can fit it in as much as possible, you will feel a big difference. Plus, this is a great way to take some time away from your desk or workplace to clear your mind and come back feeling refreshed.
You can also make sure that you are doing more exercise over the weekend by making a few changes. When you have a few hours over the weekend, instead of sitting all day, why not plan to escape to the country and go on a nice walk for a couple of hours to get your steps in. Rather than going to bottomless brunch, go and do a fun new activity like puppy yoga or paddleboarding. Stay as active as you can over the weekend and it will help you to make up for more inactive periods throughout the week.
Stay Hydrated
Our next tip is to make sure that you stay hydrated. Drinking enough water is absolutely essential to every part of our body, including regulating temperature, preventing infections, helping to deliver nutrients around the body and keeping all of our organs functioning properly. Being hydrated also helps to fuel the brain, helping you to sleep well, improve cognition and your mood. When life is really busy, this is one thing you can easily control to keep your body functioning healthily.
So, replace as many alcoholic, sugary or caffeine based drinks with water and you will soon begin to feel a really big difference. Aim for between 2.7 and 3.7 litres of water a day! The best way to do this is to carry a reusable water bottle with you at all times, to prevent plastic being wasted and to also make sure you always have it on hand.
Try Meal Prep
Last but not least, you should give low calorie meal prep a go. By having all your healthy meals delivered to your door, you know that you are eating nutritionally balanced meals without the hassle of having to plan your meals, go food shopping, cook and clean up afterwards. They will all arrive together and you can simply microwave them when you’re ready to eat! This is one of the best things you can do to stay on track whilst on a busy schedule.
