Verold Studio gives CG artists tools to upload and showcase their 3D content. Often, this is to allow for sharing 3D on forums like ZBrushCentral or CGSociety, creating a portfolio on a personal website/blog or in a portfolio page like Behance. These are great usecases, and our embed widget makes it easy to put your 3D pretty much anywhere on the web. However, given how easy it is to upload your 3D to the web and share it, we're also seeing more and more artists incorporating Verold Studio into their daily workflows. Professionals are using Verold Studio to review projects with their employers, students with their instructors. To support these usecases, we have just rolled out a bunch of new review features.
To get started, click the "Discussion" icon in the bottom left of the scene:
...clicking the discussion tab opens it on the left side of the screen:
You can see the Hangout button on the far left. This launches your 3D scene inside a video conference. If you haven't tried this, go give it a shot. AMAZING.
You've also got the ability to add text comments (with hyperlinks) into a text stream. But sometimes text is not enough. Sometimes you want to communicate visually. Here's how:
Suppose that I'm a student learning ZBrush. I've got my model constructed, and now it's time to submit it for review. I might send the link out to my classmates using Facebook or Email, let them know that my project is ready to go - and ask for some last minute feedback. This is a great way to make the classroom more social, and to encourage peer learning. I'm going to take this advice with a grain of salt, but here's an example of using the screenshot to visually show feedback:
Lots of usecases for screenshots: maybe I want to show my work in progress, or show variants of the model using different materials. And the screenshot works with all of the render modes, so if I want to review normals, for example, I can do that:
The other tool at your disposal during review is the file upload tool. Go ahead and upload any image file, and it will drop into the discussion list with your text and screenshots. Use this to compare the model to concept art, or to grab a screenshot and give it detailed markup in Photoshop.
With Verold Studio, we attempt to give you lots of ways to collaborate - in real time or asynchronously. We're happy when you save time and do better work!
